*Beauty Product Review: Loreal HiP Color Presso Lip Gloss
2 comments Posted by shopinchic at 11:42 AM
Lip gloss is a fabulous invention. It gives a natural
color, high shine, and more often than not, hydrates
your lips the way most lip sticks cannot.
I recently tried Loreal’s HiP(High Intensity Pigments)
Color Presso Lip gloss, and was please to say it works
well as most lipglosses do. It hydrates my dry lips,
and I swear that it has a bit of shine to my lips that
makes them look naturally fuller (sans the sting that
most plumping lip glosses do).
Best of all, each set comes with two different shades
of lipgloss and gives you about three options with
each kit(talk about more for your money!). There are
10 duo glosses and 20 shades altogether so the
possibilities are really endless. You can mix and
match to your hearts content to achieve different
looks. Look below for the color chart.
And while I like Loreal HiP Color Presso Lip Gloss,
I’ve got to question to packaging. You got two tubes
in a casing that is a bit hard to open, and once you
finally do open it, the tubes have no lid or anything,
making it more prone to a little mess. Another option
for packaging would be double tubes attached by the
same lid(a la Mark’s Hook Ups).
You can buy Loreal HiP Color Presso Lip Gloss at CVS and other drugstores.

I love eyeliner, escpecially liquid eyeliner.
I remember at the age of 12(the age I could first
wear cosmetics) I bought my first eyeliner, which
was actually a pencil, I stuggled just trying to
draw it on the edge of my eyelids. It was such
a pain, that for a while I would forgo eyeliner
altogether and just wear eyeshadow and mascara.
It wasn't until about 10 years later that I tried
liquid eyeliner and I've been hooked since.
Fast forward to now when I recently tried Loreal's
HiP(High-Intensity Pigments) Kohl Eyeliner that
I realized I sorta stepped out of the liquid liner
zone. Could it be possible that I would actually
like other forms of eyeliner? Well, find out....
On the outside, it looks a lot like liquid eyeliner
with the tube and all. But once you open it, you will
discover it really is more like a powder(hence it's
kohl based formula). I took out the little brush that
resembles a pen and noticed what looked like tiny
little(redundant, much?) powders on the brush and
in the tube....and I fretted when I realized that
it truly wasn't liquid eyeliner
But.....it was so easy to draw it on your lash line.
I loved how it went on so easily, just like liquid
liner, and thus giving you precision perfect color
on your lash line.
Now I'm going to rave about the colors. What I really
like most about Loreal's HiP line is that they have
bold, fun makeup-kind of like MAC, only cheaper. The
two eyeliners I tried was Navy Kohl and
Gold Kohl. There are six shades to choose from-
see below.
My personal favorite? I really like the Navy Kohl
because it brings out the natural blue in my eyes. But
the Gold Kohl is fun too when you're going for
a sexy, funky party girl look. Both the colors really
make your eyes pop in a good way.
All of Loreal's HiP and other cosmetics are available at
your local Walgreens
and other drugstores.

If you're like me, you cannot be pegged into one style.
There are so many fantastically fabulous things out there
and I want it all. If it looks good, I'll wear it. And
with that mind set, we often accumulate so many different
articles of clothing that we sometimes run out of ideas
on how to wear it all. I say feel free to mix and match!
Here are just three ideas you can use.
Maxi Dress + Leather Jacket= Boho Rocker Chic
Pink Empire Waist Dress from Old Navy, $39.99
Lace-up Leatherette Moto Jacket from Bebe, $129.00
Glamorous Party Blouse + Jeans = Casually Glam
Black Sheer Kimono Blouse from Cache, $128.00
Citizens of Humanity Stretch Faye Shadow Jeans from Revolve Clothing, $167.00
Vintage Inspired Sweater + Modern Tube Dress = Retro Mod
Knot Front Tube Dress from Express, $59.50

I'm a gloss girl, I love my lip gloss. I do wear lipstick
on occaision, but I have two problems with a lot of lipsticks.
First off, most of the shade are a dull matte, which only
makes one a little matronly in appearance. Secondly, my lips
are dry and many a lipstick that I've tried will really dry
out my lips even more.
But Max Factor's newest lipstick actually works for me! Vivid
Impact Lipcolor comes in 20 pure pigment shades. The end result
really is high quality. Another thing I love about Vivid Impact
Lipcolor is the rich conditioner formula that really hydrates
my dry lips. I can definitely see why is was listed in Marie
Claire's 25 Best Products of the Year.
Now back to the shades of Vivid Impact Lipcolor. I used no.
28 Rose Rage, and I've got to say its a very flattering
color as the shade is as neutral as it is vivid. Here's a
link to get a closer look at all the shades. I would post a picture
of the colors, but the picture wouldn't do justice.
This is the best lipstick I've tried in a long time,
and I would highly recommend it.
Btw, Max Factor also created Vivid Impact Lip Liner that
coordinates with the lipstick.
Check out another makeup review below. And you can buy both
products feature in this post(as well as the one below) at
Wal-mart.

2000 Calorie Exteme Lash Plumper: Does It Really Deliver?
1 comments Posted by shopinchic at 6:04 PM
Max Factor's newest mascara really isn't a mascara, it is
a lash plumper. The new 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper
lengthens and fattens your lashes with a patent fat-wrap
formula. Now fat isn't a good thing, but when it comes to
lashes, heaven knows I need help! I'm always game for
great mascaras(and now lash plumpers).
When I tried the new 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper, I
used a minimal amount(as I always do), and I really didn't
see the results that I was looking for. I was wondering this
aloud one day and my sister suggested that maybe I wasn't
putting enough lash plumper. So I suggested that she try putting
on the makeup(she does fab makeup and even bleaches my hair, and
she's not even a hair colorist or cosmetic artist)on my lashes,
and when she did we both noticed that my lashes are magniified
(albeit a bit clumpy). I almost always use minimal makeup so I
assumed that I wouldn't need a lot of this to make my lashes
bigger. But after about three coats(I usually use only 1 coat)
of 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper, I noticed my lashes looked
as plump as they should. Who needs mascara now?
The moral of the story: I know they always say that less is more,
but sometimes more is better. Escpecially when it comes
to getting great lashes with 200 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper.
Love this!

What's your fashion deal breaker? Here's an article
from Shine about just that.
What are moi's deal breakers(style wise)? No
matter how stylish a pair of jeans look, if they
are really high-waisted, forget it. High wasted
jeans make your torso look shorter(and thus a
little more frumpy), and more often than not,
emphasize the belly.
Other deal breakers include sloppy looking pieces.
For instance, I will find a dress with the perfect
color or print, but if the cut isn't right, forget
it. I don't like clothes that are overly structured
or too loose.
What are your style deal breakers? Do share them!

Summer brings out humidity, and humidity can often
bring out the nuisance called frizz, particularly if
your hair is naturally wavy or curly. But frizz can
also be brought on by other things like bleaching or
harsh chemicals, over usage of heat appliances, and even
(contrary to first statement) a lack of moisture. You
can tame and treat your unruly frizz and here’s how.
1- Moisturize Your Hair. Regardless the cause of your
frizz, your hair still needs extra moisture, so make
sure you use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners at
least 5 times a week(roughly every two days).
Try Paul Mitchell Daily Moisture Shampoo and Treatment
conditioner-available at Trade Secret Salons.
2- Use Extra Conditioning If You Need To. Use a hair
mask or deep conditioning about once or twice a week to
fortify your hair. You can also use a daily leave-in
conditioner if your hair not so damaged.
Try Pantene Pro-V Detangling Light-Conditioning Spray-
available at drugstores.
3- Reduce The Heat. If you can, try to limit your hair
drying time, or stop using hair dryers all together.
Same goes for straightening and curling irons.

Here is an interesting article about Kmart stores selling
fashionable foorwear. The article is from Daily Candy.
So, you’ve been overhauling your wardrobe for the summer.

Joe Boxer Canvas shoes (a.k.a. the perfect summer multitaskers)
come in an array of splashy colors and styles. And because they
start at just $12.99 a pop, you can keep a pair at home, a set at
work, even a few in the backseat of your car (for quick changes
on the go).
Check out the entire selection of surprisingly chic footwear at
Kmart! Plus, buy any pair from the Joe Boxer Canvas collection

If you haven’t guessed already(which I’m sure you have),
I have an affinity for limited edition makeup and cosmetic
sets/kits. Oh yeah, I’m also really into natural based
products, because nobody really knows what goes into some
of the faux derivatives that go tin the cosmetics we use.
Maybe if we ever did we all would buy only natural products.
And before I forget, I must confess that I really appreciated
a good bargain or deal, so now we can cut to the chase and
talk about Tarte’s Be Good To Your Mother(Earth) gift set.
This lovely kit contains three naturally made sheer lip balms
and a mighty cute cotton tote bag. The lip balms are packaged in
recycled aluminum tubes. I also love the names of these balms-
Reduce(sheer peach sheen); Reuse(sheer poppy pink); and
Recycle(sheer light beige pink). Look at the colors below.
The natural lip balms contain no synthetic fragrance, parabens,
sulfates, mineral oil, phthalates, or propolyne glycol.
Tarte’s Be Good To Your Mother(Earth) gift set is available at
Sephora for $35(did I forget to mention that this set is worth
$62 ?)

Usually I think of leggings as something you'd wear
only during the fall. But as I was browsing the Next,
I couldn't help but change my mind. You can wear
leggings anytime!
Unlike skinny jeans(which I thoroughly avoid), leggings
are perfect to wear during the summer, either as pants
or under mini skirts and dresses. Black is always the
preferred shade, but colored leggings are wearable too
(as long as you stay away from floral printed leggings!)
Here are a few more tips!
If you're wearing leggings as pants, please wear a
tunic or some other billowy blouse. It looks much more
flattering and balanced.
If you're a little on the short side and you're
wearing cropped leggings, trade flats for wedges or
even heels to add a little height.
All the clothes shown above are available at Next.
Unfortunatly I can't shop here, but I will be on
the lookout for leggings!

Guerlain's newest beauty must have(and I should someday
create a list of all their beauty must haves!)
is a simple concept of bronzing mineral powder called
Guerlain Terracotta Mineral Flawless Bronzing Powder.
You already know how I feel about mineral products as I'm
pretty much convinced that they're healthier, but this
one takes it up a notch by adding bronzer(which Guerlain
is legendary for, and you'll see why) to the mineral
powder.
You cannot find a better way to perfect your skin while
achieving a nautral look faux glow. And there's no easier
way to get an natural looking tan, since there's no messy
cream or lotion to apply. Granted, if you already have a
tan(faux, I hope), Guerlain Terracotta Mineral Flawless
Bronzing Powder will only enhance it.
This wonder bronzing mineral powder comes in a very chic
case, and it also included a professional Kabuki brush,
which only makes the application and blending that much
easier. And it comes in three shades: 01 Light,
02 Medium, and 03 Dark. See below.

Sephora.

Classic artsy looks that might have come from a fairy tale
book?
No, its just Smashbox Muse Spring 2009- the newest collection
to actually be inspired by the art of cosmetics.
p.s. please check out this link for a video and makeup tutorial for Smashbox Muse Spring 2009
Muse Artist Eye Palette
This mini kit contains ten eyeshadows and an artist eye
shadow brush. Most of the colors are naturally rich and
a little luxe- yet they still are very wearable. The kit's
colors include purples, blues, browns, greens, greys and
neutral shades. The palette comes with a mirror.
See colors below left to right
Biscuit, Chocolate, Soft Green, Dark Celery Green, Light
Silver Blue, Dark Blue Grey, Sheer Lilac, Deep Orchid, Rose
Copper, Coffee
Muse Cream Eye Liner Pencil Set
Truly clever shades as none of the colors are basic. And
best of all, you get four of these in a set! Talk
about a deal! But what really sets this apart from most
pencil eyeliners is the fact that these are rather softer
and therefore easier to use.
See colors below clockwise
Deep Ocean Blue, Deep Violet, Deep Chocolate, Deep Gold
Muse Lip Paints
These lovely lip paints only come in three colors, and my
most favorite shade is Virtuso, a pretty pink. It's
the perfect shade day and night. All of these glosses have
a nice texture and they do shine a bit.
See colors left to right
Luminary, Artiste, Virtuoso
Muse Blush Rush
In the season of coral based cosmetics, this shade of blush
is a no brainer. The long lasting blush comes in mirrored
compact(as all blush compacts should).

I found this little article about Victoria Beckham's recent
style shocker on Shine.
We actually gasped when we saw this picture of Victoria "Posh" Beckham in baggy jeans and flip flops, and wondered what on earth was wrong, and where was she going dressed like that. You see, it's not that we don't run to the supermarket in our sweatpants from time to time, it's just that we've never seen Beckham in pants that weren't skin tight or heels that were under four inches high.
The 34-year-old mother of three has worn stilettos to amusement parks, malls, children's birthday parties and even wore high-heeled sneakers to to throw out the first pitch at a Dodgers game. It turns out the dressed-down picture on the right was taken on a recent trip to London's Wembley Stadium. (Note: She is still carrying an ultra expensive Hermes Birkin bag! Whew!)
"I just can't concentrate in flats," Posh has told the Britain's GMTV. "I'd love to go to the gym," she added, "but I can't get my head around the footwear." Her friend Heidi Klum even laughed about Beckham's high-heel addiction to Harper's Bazaar, saying, "What might feel like a nine-inch heel to most people is like a flip-flop to her."
Is Beckham allowed to wear flip-flops? Of course she is! We're just surprised to see it. Now working from home, my style has become infinitely more casual than it used to be, mostly out of laziness, so my friends are often caught off guard when I dress up to go out in heels and a really fancy dress.
Do you have a strict fashion image you project like Victoria Beckham, or does your style change from day to day?

Olay Professional Pro-X is a new line from the affordable
brand of skin care Olay. This line actually makes your skin
act younger, therefore making it appear younger.
I tried the Olay Professional Pro-X Starter Protocol which is
a kit with three of their skin care products. It includes Age
Repair Lotion SPF 30, Eye Restoration Complex, and
Wrinkle Smoothing Cream. You use these products in the
morning and the evening every day for at least 28 days to
notice younger and softer looking skin.
I started using this nearly two weeks ago, and I've gotta say
that it already is working. My crows feet and dark circles seem
to have lessen dramatically. My skin feels softer and appears more
dewy. I really like this stuff!
Here's how it works: start your morning with Age
Repair Lotion SPF 30, and Eye Restoration Complex,
end your evening with Wrinkle Smoothing Cream and
Eye Restoration Complex. The kit recommends 28 days,
but I've been lucky to notice results much sooner.
You can buy Olay Professional Pro-X Starter Protocol at Derma

Lip gloss is a must in my makeup bag, particularly lip gloss
that plumps up your lips. Unfortunately that usually means
a colored gloss that leaves a slight tingly sting on your
lips, but that is so not the case with Big Bang Illusion
Gloss by Lipstick Queen. This formula is made up of tiny
particles of shimmer that work as an illusion of plumper
lips.
Absolutely amazing!
This lip gloss comes in eight luscious shades-each with a
cosmic inspired name. My favorite shades are Black Hole,
Energy, Infinite, and Expansion-as these
shades of red and pink seem to be universally flattering. I'm
not too sure about Time as the color seems to be a little
too gold to be worn on lips. Look at the color chart below-click
photo to enlarge.
Big Bang Illusion Gloss by Lipstick Queen- available at
SpaceNK(both USA and UK websites).
